Internationally Designated Sites and their Synergies
IUCN und Deutsche UNESCO-Kommission
The German Commission for UNESCO, IUCN and UNESCO organise a Side Event on “Internationally designated sites and their synergies”. In several cases, World Heritage sites’ areas coincide with or partly cover Ramsar sites, Biosphere Reserves or Geoparks. The number of these sites with multiple designations increases and thus the need to meet their distinct requirements through appropriate management approaches. The side event will focus on synergies between the international designations by highlighting case studies. It should serve as a platform to support dialogue about the opportunities arising from these designations and to join efforts to further improve synergies.
